A gender neutral hat that’s designed to appeal to everyone! Escher comes in three sizes – perfect for the whole family! It’s warm and cosy and knits up quickly in beautiful John Arbon Textiles Viola or any other warm and squishy DK yarn.
For the last and most wintery pattern in the collection I was aiming to design a warm and chunky ski hat with a bold and graphic style. As always with bold patterns I wanted to soften the design slightly to get a nice balanced look. The fold up and brim and pompom finish the look to make something that is bright and cheerful and very easy to wear.
The name Escher is a tribute to the graphic artist M. C. Escher who often used tessellations and recursions in his art.
With the addition of Escher, the Colour and Line collection is now complete! I have absolutely loved working on the collection and I’m so pleased with how it turned out. I owe Jen and Jim A-C and Emma Solley a massive thank you for helping to really make the most of the designs.
Thank you to all who have followed the progress of the Colour and Line collection and special thanks to those who have bought patterns and knit projects from the collection – I hope that you’ve enjoyed knitting the designs as I much as I did!
